Escort Urged To Have Unsafe Sex

Escort-Urged-To-Have-Unsafe-SexA former Calgary firefighter ordered escorts at an agency he managed to engage in unsafe sexual practices to justify a fee increased according to women testifying at his pimping trial.

The escort, who can’t be identified because of a publication ban, said the accused at a September 2002 meeting at Liaisons Escort Agency, told the women to have sex without a condom and perform oral sex. The reason? A $20 and hour fee hike.

“He wasn’t suggesting it, he was saying if you wanted to make more money, this is what you would do,” said the witness.

“He was suggesting unsafe sex practices?” asked Crown Prosecutor David Torske.

“Yes.”

“You objected to that?”

“Yes. The job is a means to an end, it’s not worth sacrificing your health, morals or safety,” she said, adding other agencies she has worked at didn’t want the escorts to have unprotected sex.

She said the accused who drove her to most of her dates, also told her to bleach her hair, wear lower-but shirts, shorter skirts, and tighter fitting clothes.

The accused who was arrested on Oct. 26, 2002, faces 15 charges including living off the avails of prostitution, procuring and keeping a common bawdy house.

His lawyer Patrick Fagan has applied for a stay of all the charges against the 40-year-old. He’s trying to persuade Justice Patrick Sullivan that the city has legalized the sex trade because it requires all escorts to be licensed, therefore the accused should never have been charged.

The Court of Queen’s Bench trial continues today.
