Day-home operator faces trial in child injury case

A Calgary day-home operator faces a seven-day judge and jury trial next year for allegedly pushing a child down a flight of stairs.

Justice Paul Chrumka set the trial to begin June 2 for the accused, during criminal arraignments on Wednesday at Court of Queen’s Bench.

The accused, 34, faces one count of assault causing bodily harm in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this year, allegedly involving a child under her care.

The accused will remain free on bail until the start of her trial.

The accused, who has pleaded not guilty to the offence, is represented by defence lawyer Pat Fagan.

The Crown prosecutor will be Pat Yelle.

Jury selection will be made on May 29, four days prior to the start of the trial.
