4. Regina v. J.V. [Provincial Court of Alberta, Calgary – February 2010]

Client charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds, manufacturing cocaine, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, possession of weapons for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and possession of a prohibited weapon. Police were investigating an alleged “dial-a-dope” operation which ultimately resulted in a search by warrant of a residence; client found inside the residence at time of search. Police seized over $10,000.00 cash, approximately one pound of cocaine and several hundred “hits” of ecstasy. At the commencement of the prosecution the Crown was seeking three years imprisonment for our client. After approximately thirteen separate court appearances we were successful in having all charges against our client completely withdrawn.
